What is COPPA

As a Parent who wishes to help our children develop as intelligent curious human beings seeking out knowledge – we should be able to encourage our children to have an email account and to use the internet generally, HOWEVER, (Governments have acted to warn us not be naive) – our BIGGEST CONCERNS should be that there are ADVERSE ELEMENTS at work that abuse the Internet and yet another despicable group that PREYS ON INNOCENT CHILDREN.

IT IS A SERIOUS OFFENCE AND AGAINST THE LAW – to invite persons under 14 years of age to use a WebSite and to obtain any information from them.

THEREFORE – WE MUST BE VILIGANT – against these 2 elements – and WE MUST ACT RESPONSIBLY and ALWAYS SUPERVISE ALL ACTIVITY OF A PERSON UNDER THE AGE OF 14 YEARS WHEN THEY USE THE INTERNET.

Firstly, it just makes to good sense to help in CHILDREN’S EDUCATION – so SUPERVISE CHILDREN and know the Law – visit, study and know about www.coppa.org

Secondly, do not take risks. I well recall when we were young we inflated our ages – so when you are 12 you say you are “13″ because you are “well nearly 13″.
The Law correctly wishes to “protect young children” – DO YOUR PART AND BE RESPONSIBLE – SUPERVISE.

Thirdly, as a WebSite Owners – protect yourself as the WebSite Owners – install a GoLegally.com ToolBar because it is VERY CHEAP PROTECTION (at less than $US1 per week) that could just save you from a very serious Fine, Court Action and Jail (maybe losing all your assets).

What is SPAM

SPAM is when some-one sends an UN-INVITED email to another person.

I am sure we have all received “un-invited emails” (SPAM) at some time during our email career.

Unfortunately, many of the SPAM emails relate to certain “adult type of products” and although things have improved over recent years there is still room for improvement.

We are always amazed to think that so many people still send SPAM emails – because there is an element of time and organization behind such a mailing – then to think that about 96% of such emails are sent DIRECTLY to the TRASH/JUNK MAIL box (without even being seen) – it is amazing to think the senders (Spammers) could be bothered sending such an email in the first place.

I am sure there must be so few buyers of their products – or am I so wrong ???

Finally, with Hosting Companies placing hourly and daily limits on the number of emails that can be send from their Email Servers – this does help to limits the quantity of emails that can be sent, however, it also poses a problem for legitimate businesses that do need to send legal emails.

We do have some solutions for legitimate businesses and encourage punishment for offenders.

In case you are wondering – those that should know claim that in excess of 183 Billion SPAM emails are sent on an average per DAY.
